Hybrid Vehicles

We take for granted that an SUV like the Ford Escape SE Hybrid is fuel-efficient. However, when you put a hybrid powertrain in a vehicle like the Ford Maverick Hybrid, or the Ford F-150 Hybrid with PowerBoost™ technology, you find better gas mileage in some unexpected places.

That's because a hybrid vehicle combines the traditional gas engine with an electric motor (or two). The engine, and regenerative braking, keep the battery charged, and that lets the electric motor take over for short stretches, especially at lower speeds.

Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV)

You'll find all of the same components in a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, or PHEV, that you would find in a standard hybrid. So, what's the difference?

Unlike a regular hybrid, which relies solely on the engine and regenerative braking system to charge the battery, a PHEV like the 2022 Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid can charge its battery pack by plugging in. This allows for a longer all-electric range, while still giving you the advantages of a conventional hybrid on longer trips.

Electric Vehicles (EV)

Two of the most exciting vehicles at our Folsom Ford dealership don't use gasoline at all. The Ford Mustang Mach-E and Ford F-150 Lightning rely solely on a battery for their power, transmitted to the road via electric motors.

These vehicles have to be plugged in since there's no gas engine to serve as backup. You can charge at home on a standard 120V household outlet or using a professionally installed 240V charger. When you want to top off quickly, you can use one of the many public DC fast chargers located through the FordPass™ app.
